At Galam we believe in the importance of community relations. Our contribution to the community helps others and gives us even more in return.
Education is Our Future
In the professional sphere, we have been sponsoring the biotechnology studies in the local high school for many years. The tenth and eleventh grade students keep in close contact with Galam through meetings, visits to different departments in the plant, and with the help and guidance of our researchers. Working together, they develop school projects, including those for matriculation credit.
Galam Employees for the Community
In the social sphere, Galam employees volunteer to organize activities for children and adults in the surrounding neighborhoods. Galam sponsors these activities in two clubhouses it finances, one in the Arab village of Jat, the other in the Jewish community of Harish. In their free time, the volunteers help the children with their homework, lead various group activities, cultivate gardens with the children, help maintain the buildings, and take the children on trips. They also work to get contributions for equipment, books and toys for the clubhouses.
Group activities for Arab and Jewish children are another aspect of the ongoing activity and part of the close daily cooperation of both sectors working at Galam. We are proud of the employee response to volunteering, and we hope to extend these activities in the future.
Scholarship Fund
The scholarship fund in the memory of Dr. Willi Groag – Galam created this fund in order to honor the memory of one of Galam's outstanding individuals. Each year eight stipendiums in Dr. Groag’s honor are awarded to students who are children of Galam employees, or of members of Maanit.
Throughout the year, Galam hosts many groups of teachers, college and high school students, and others who come to visit the Galam plant. They learn about our plant and how it uses biotechnological methods to produce our products.
